Tom Ahlers, CPA
Tom joined Denman & Company in 1968 after receiving his Accounting Degree from Loras College. He was elected managing partner in 1982 and is the Coordinator of the Health Care Professionals Division. He promotes a team atmosphere - emphasizing communication not only between our clients and us, but among our partners as well. Tom also upholds the "3 A's: Able, Affable and Available."

Bob Buckley, CPA Bob is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a B.B.A. in Accounting. Bob began his career working 10 years for both Ernst & Ernst and Peat Marwick. His work included extensive experience in accounting, auditing, taxation and management consulting. After leaving the large firms, Bob began Buckley & Company. In 2007, Buckley & Company merged with Denman & Company, LLP. He remains a devoted Hawkeye fan and he also enjoys his family and golf. Bruce Cahill, CPA
Bruce, a graduate of Loras College and The University of Iowa College of Law, was a partner with a regional firm and a director with two national firms prior to joining Denman & Company in 1999. He is principally involved with tax consulting and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, business succession and capital financing. Bruce has a broad array of clientele including manufacturing, tax exempt entities and construction/development. Bruce is team leader of the Construction/Real Estate Industry of Focus for the firm.

Dave Ellis, CPA
Dave graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with an accounting major. He joined Denman & Company in 1995. Dave provides accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services for small business, non-profit and governmental entities. He has worked extensively with physician practices, higher education institutions, local governments and non-profit entities.

Jerry Heinzler, CPA
Jerry graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Business Administration. He joined the firm in 1969 and has over thirty-five years of experience in public accounting. Jerry is an authority regarding audits, management advisory services, and operations and accounting systems. He is a consultant on new and proposed accounting and auditing topics and assists clients with various information reporting issues. Jerry serves as Denman & Company's Healthcare Quality Control Partner.

Jim Hingtgen, CPA
Jim graduated from Loras College with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Since joining Denman & Company in 1979, his areas of focus include hospitals and nursing homes, providing accounting, audit and management advisory services plus third-party cost report preparation and related services. Jim also assists nonprofit organizations (including voluntary health and welfare organizations) as well as a wide range of for-profit entities with their accounting, auditing and management advisory needs.

Jay Horn, CPA
Jay, a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Business Administration with Accounting major, has been with Denman & Company since 1984. He provides consulting and audit services for healthcare and nonprofit entities, wholesalers, contractors, retailers and municipal utilities. His areas of expertise include working with hospitals and nursing homes in regard to third-party reimbursement issues and consulting with closely-held corporate clients in areas such as cash flow analysis, budgeting, financing and strategic planning. Jay is also the firm's recruiting coordinator.

Steve Schweizer, CPA
Steve, a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a degree accounting and computer science, has been with Denman & Company since 1992. He provides consulting and audit services for healthcare and nonprofit entities. His experience includes a wide range of consulting projects including initial debt capacity studies, forecasting, financial modeling and statistical benchmarking analysis. Steve has been heavily involved with information technology since the mid 1980’s. He provides significant leadership and consulting to our clients by enhancing utilization of technology to expand capabilities and create efficiencies.

Duane Tolander, CPA, CVA
Duane received his B.A. degree, with Accounting emphasis, from Coe College. He joined Denman & Company in 1982 and is largely involved in business valuations for acquisitions, divorce, estate and income tax purposes as well as stock buyouts. Duane has extensive experience in consulting with closely-held businesses on succession planning issues, consulting in mergers and acquisitions, and negotiating with financial institutions for business loans. He is an authority on ESOP viability and feasibility studies and is an expert witness in cases involving valuations of various entities, lost profits and divorce cases.

Mark Wackerbarth, CPA, CVA
Mark graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Industrial Administration, Accounting emphasis. Joining Denman & Company in 1976, his principal areas of practice include Auditing and Accounting, Litigation Support Services and Business Valuations. Mark's areas of specialization include computations of economic damages, analysis of shareholder disputes and professional standards analyses.

Jamie Ward, CPA
Jamie received a degree in Business Administration, Accounting and Business Education emphasis, from the University of Iowa. She joined Denman & Company in 1969 and has been director of the taxation committee since 1989. Jamie has been an appointed member to AICPA taxation committees and has served as president of the ISCPA. She currently serves on other boards in the Des Moines area. Jamie is an authority on individual and corporate income tax, and has written articles and legislation and been quoted in national publications.
